The Portuguese Public Prosecutor’s Office has accused ten individuals of active and passive corruption between 2016 and 2019, targeting key figures at SL Benfica. The allegations involve illicit financial transactions and a scheme to embezzle money through a Brazilian company, falsifying payments as “intermediary commissions.”

If found guilty, Benfica could face a suspension of up to three years from all competitions. This would impact players like Ángel Di María, Nicolás Otamendi, Gianluca Prestianni, and Benjamín Rollheiser, who are currently competing in the UEFA Champions League.
